ED BRANSON
In a renovated apple barn in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, award winning craftsman Ed Branson transforms molten glass into breathtaking and original pieces of art. Mr. Branson uses traditional tools and techniques, combining his own vision with skills he developed while studying with masters such as Dan Dailey and Lino Tagliapietra in Maine, and Martin Blank at the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington.
Following an apprenticeship with Peter Bramhall in 1976, Ed became the Head Glass Assistant to renowned artist Josh Simpson in Massachusetts.
Self employed since 1987, Mr. Branson is recognized as one of the country's
leading artisans. He received awards from the Feet of Glass National Competition in Maryland, and the North American Glass 96 juried competition. The Corning Museum of Glass recognized him in their 1992 review, and his work is featured in some of the most prestigious galleries and museums in the country. Ms. Anwar Sadat and the
Holyrood Palace in Scotland have added Branson pieces to their private collection.
From the quiet country home he shares with his wife and two children, Mr. Branson describes his artistic goals for his work. "Glass is a beautiful, fluid material. I love to search for new ways of capturing this transparent liquid in motion. My aim is to freeze the movement of glass in a natural, beautiful form."
